Charles Durning
Charles Durning was an American actor born on February 28, 1923, in Highland Falls, New York. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was awarded the Silver Star for bravery. Durning became known for his versatile performances in film, television, and theater, earning acclaim for his roles in movies like Dog Day Afternoon and To Be or Not to Be.
Throughout his career, Durning received several award nominations, including two Academy Awards for Best Supporting Actor. He was also recognized for his work on stage, winning a Tony Award for his performance in the Broadway play That Championship Season. Durning passed away on December 24, 2012.
