Chariot Festival
The Chariot Festival is a vibrant celebration held in various parts of India, most famously in Puri, Odisha. It honors the Hindu deity Jagannath, who is considered a form of Krishna. During the festival, large wooden chariots are constructed, and devotees pull them through the streets, allowing the deities to interact with the public.
This festival typically occurs in the month of Ashadha (June-July) and attracts thousands of pilgrims and tourists. The event symbolizes the annual journey of Jagannath, along with his siblings Balabhadra and Subhadra, to their garden, known as Gundicha Temple.
