Chang'e 1
Chang'e 1 was China's first lunar orbiter, launched on October 24, 2007. Its primary mission was to create a detailed three-dimensional map of the Moon's surface and to study its mineral composition. The spacecraft successfully entered lunar orbit on November 5, 2007.
The mission lasted until March 1, 2009, when Chang'e 1 was intentionally crashed into the Moon's surface to gather data on the impact. The information collected by Chang'e 1 significantly advanced scientific understanding of the Moon and laid the groundwork for future lunar exploration missions, including Chang'e 2 and Chang'e 3.
