Chandrika Kumaratunga
Chandrika Kumaratunga is a prominent Sri Lankan politician who served as the President of Sri Lanka from 1994 to 2000. She was the first woman to hold this position in the country. Born on June 29, 1945, she is the daughter of S.W.R.D. Bandaranaike, a former Prime Minister, and Sirimavo Bandaranaike, the world's first female Prime Minister.
Kumaratunga is known for her efforts to promote peace during the Sri Lankan civil conflict and for implementing various social and economic reforms. After her presidency, she continued to be active in politics and has been involved in various initiatives aimed at national reconciliation and development.
