Chand Dynasty
The Chand Dynasty was an ancient Indian dynasty that ruled parts of northern India, particularly in the region of Uttar Pradesh and Bihar. It is known for its contributions to art, architecture, and culture during its reign, which began around the 6th century CE. The dynasty is often associated with the promotion of Buddhism and the construction of several important stupas and monasteries.
The most notable ruler of the Chand Dynasty was Harshavardhana, who expanded the empire and was known for his patronage of the arts and religion. The dynasty eventually declined due to internal conflicts and external invasions, leading to its eventual dissolution by the 8th century CE.
