Cham People
The Cham people are an ethnic group primarily found in central and southern Vietnam and parts of Cambodia. They are descendants of the ancient Cham civilization, which thrived from the 2nd to the 15th centuries. The Cham culture is known for its unique language, which belongs to the Austronesian family, and its rich traditions in art, music, and dance.
Historically, the Cham were influential in trade and maritime activities in Southeast Asia. Today, they are predominantly Muslim or Hindu, reflecting their diverse religious practices. The Cham continue to preserve their cultural heritage through festivals, traditional crafts, and the maintenance of ancient temples, such as those found in My Son.
