Chaitén Volcano
Chaitén Volcano is located in the Los Lagos Region of southern Chile. It is part of the Andes mountain range and is known for its explosive eruptions. The volcano became active again in May 2008 after being dormant for nearly 9,000 years, leading to significant ashfall and the evacuation of nearby towns.
The eruption of Chaitén caused extensive damage to the surrounding environment and affected local communities. The town of Chaitén, located near the volcano, was largely buried under ash and debris. Since then, the area has been monitored for volcanic activity, and efforts have been made to study its geological features.
