Chagas disease
Chagas disease is an infectious disease caused by the parasite Trypanosoma cruzi. It is primarily transmitted to humans through the bite of infected triatomine bugs, also known as kissing bugs. The disease is most common in parts of Latin America, but it can also affect people in other regions due to travel and migration.
The disease has two phases: the acute phase, which may cause mild symptoms like fever and fatigue, and the chronic phase, which can lead to serious health issues such as heart problems and digestive disorders. Early diagnosis and treatment are crucial for managing Chagas disease.
