Chagas Disease
Chagas Disease is a tropical illness caused by the parasite Trypanosoma cruzi, primarily transmitted through the bite of infected kissing bugs. It can also spread through contaminated food, blood transfusions, or from mother to baby during pregnancy.
The disease has two phases: the acute phase, which may cause mild symptoms like fever and fatigue, and the chronic phase, which can lead to serious heart and digestive problems. Early diagnosis and treatment are crucial to prevent complications, but many people remain unaware of their infection, especially in rural areas of Latin America.
