Cervical Nerves
Cervical nerves are a set of eight pairs of nerves that emerge from the cervical region of the spinal cord, located in the neck. They are labeled C1 to C8 and play a crucial role in transmitting signals between the brain and various parts of the body, particularly the neck, shoulders, arms, and hands. Each nerve controls specific muscle movements and sensations in these areas.
These nerves are part of the peripheral nervous system and are responsible for both motor and sensory functions. For example, the C5 nerve helps control shoulder movement, while the C6 nerve is involved in wrist and thumb movement. Proper functioning of cervical nerves is essential for daily activities and overall mobility.
