Certified Nurse-Midwives
Certified Nurse-Midwives (CNMs) are advanced practice registered nurses who specialize in providing care to women during pregnancy, childbirth, and the postpartum period. They are trained to handle normal pregnancies and deliveries, offering a holistic approach that includes physical, emotional, and educational support. CNMs can also provide gynecological care and family planning services.
To become a CNM, a nurse must first earn a nursing degree and obtain a registered nurse (RN) license. After that, they complete a master's or doctoral program in midwifery, which includes clinical training. CNMs are certified by the American Midwifery Certification Board and can practice in various healthcare settings.
