Cerebral Venous Sinus
The cerebral venous sinuses are large channels located within the brain that collect deoxygenated blood from the brain and direct it toward the internal jugular veins. These sinuses are part of the venous system and play a crucial role in draining blood away from the brain, ensuring proper circulation and pressure regulation.
These sinuses are lined with endothelial cells and are situated between the layers of the dura mater, one of the protective membranes surrounding the brain. They include several major sinuses, such as the superior sagittal sinus and the transverse sinus, which help facilitate efficient blood flow and maintain overall brain health.
