Central Railroad of New Jersey
The Central Railroad of New Jersey (CRRNJ) was a major railroad company in the northeastern United States, established in 1839. It played a crucial role in transporting goods and passengers between New Jersey and New York City, contributing to the region's economic growth. The railroad was known for its extensive network, which included lines connecting to various local and regional destinations.
In the mid-20th century, the CRRNJ faced financial difficulties and eventually ceased operations in 1967. Its legacy continues through the preservation of some of its historic stations and the establishment of the New Jersey Transit system, which took over many of its former routes.
