Central Flyway
The Central Flyway is one of the four major migratory routes for birds in North America. It stretches from the northern regions of Canada down to the southern parts of Mexico. This flyway is crucial for many species of waterfowl, shorebirds, and songbirds as they travel between their breeding and wintering grounds.
Along the Central Flyway, various habitats such as wetlands, grasslands, and agricultural areas provide essential stopover points for resting and feeding. Important locations within this flyway include the Platte River in Nebraska and the Quivira National Wildlife Refuge in Kansas, which support diverse bird populations during migration.
