Central Bank of West African States
The Central Bank of West African States (BCEAO) is the central bank for the eight member countries of the West African Economic and Monetary Union (WAEMU). Established in 1973, its primary role is to issue the West African CFA franc, manage monetary policy, and ensure financial stability in the region.
BCEAO also supervises commercial banks and financial institutions, promoting economic growth and integration among member states. The bank aims to facilitate trade and investment, contributing to the overall development of the West African economy while maintaining price stability and fostering a secure financial environment.
