Center Hill Dam
Center Hill Dam is a concrete gravity dam located on the Caney Fork River in DeKalb County, Tennessee. Completed in 1948, it was built primarily for flood control, hydroelectric power generation, and recreation. The dam creates Center Hill Lake, which spans over 18,000 acres and provides various recreational opportunities, including fishing, boating, and camping.
The dam stands 250 feet tall and stretches 1,700 feet across. Operated by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, it plays a crucial role in managing water flow and reducing flood risks in the surrounding areas. The hydroelectric power plant at the dam generates electricity to support local communities.
