Catholic confession
Catholic confession, also known as the Sacrament of Reconciliation, is a practice in the Catholic Church where individuals confess their sins to a priest. This sacrament is based on the belief that through confession, one can receive forgiveness and restore their relationship with God.
During confession, the penitent (the person confessing) admits their sins, expresses remorse, and may receive guidance or penance from the priest. The priest, acting in the person of Christ, offers absolution, which is the formal release from guilt. This sacrament is an important aspect of Catholic spiritual life and community.
