Catford Cat
The Catford Cat is a large, whimsical sculpture located in Catford, a district in southeast London. This iconic piece of public art features a giant, stylized cat perched above the entrance of the Catford Broadway Shopping Centre. It was created in 1974 by artist Graham Ibbeson and has since become a beloved local landmark.
The sculpture is made of fibreglass and stands approximately 3 meters tall. It was designed to represent the area's name, as "Catford" is derived from the Old English term for "cattle crossing." The Catford Cat is often photographed by visitors and serves as a symbol of the community.
