Carroll O'Connor
Carroll O'Connor was an American actor, producer, and director, best known for his role as Archie Bunker on the television series All in the Family. Born on August 2, 1924, in New York City, he became a prominent figure in television during the 1970s and 1980s. O'Connor's portrayal of Archie Bunker earned him several awards, including four Primetime Emmy Awards.
In addition to his work on All in the Family, O'Connor starred in the spin-off series Archie Bunker's Place and later played the role of police chief Bill Gillespie in the drama series In the Heat of the Night. He continued to act in various television and film projects until his passing on June 21, 2001.
