Caretta Caretta
The Caretta caretta, commonly known as the loggerhead sea turtle, is a large marine turtle found in oceans worldwide. It is easily recognized by its large head and reddish-brown shell. Loggerheads primarily feed on jellyfish, crustaceans, and other marine organisms, using their strong jaws to crush hard-shelled prey.
Loggerhead turtles are known for their long migrations, traveling thousands of miles between feeding and nesting sites. They typically nest on sandy beaches, where females lay around 100 eggs in a single clutch. Conservation efforts are crucial for their survival, as they face threats from habitat loss, pollution, and fishing practices.
