Cardinal Joseph W. Tobin
Cardinal Joseph W. Tobin is an American Roman Catholic bishop who has served as the Archbishop of Newark since 2016. Born on November 2, 1951, in Detroit, Michigan, he was ordained a priest in 1978 and later became a bishop in 2012. Tobin is known for his focus on social justice, interfaith dialogue, and pastoral care.
In addition to his role in Newark, Cardinal Tobin has held various positions within the Catholic Church, including serving as the Secretary of the Congregation for Institutes of Consecrated Life and Societies of Apostolic Life in Vatican City. He was elevated to the rank of cardinal by Pope Francis in 2016.
