Cardinal János Károly Esterházy
Cardinal János Károly Esterházy was a prominent Hungarian cleric and politician born on March 28, 1901. He served as a member of the Hungarian Parliament and was known for his strong opposition to the Nazi regime during World War II. Esterházy was a member of the Esterházy family, a noble lineage in Hungary, and he dedicated his life to advocating for the rights of Slovak people.
In 1945, Esterházy was arrested by the communist government in Hungary due to his political beliefs and activities. He was imprisoned for several years and later exiled. In 1993, he was posthumously recognized as a martyr for his faith and commitment to justice, and he was beatified by the Catholic Church in 2001.
