Cardiac Conduction
Cardiac conduction refers to the process by which electrical signals are generated and transmitted throughout the heart, coordinating its contractions. This system begins with the sinoatrial (SA) node, often called the heart's natural pacemaker, which initiates the heartbeat by sending out electrical impulses.
These impulses travel through the atrioventricular (AV) node and along specialized pathways, including the Bundle of His and Purkinje fibers, ensuring that the heart muscles contract in a synchronized manner. This precise timing is crucial for effective blood pumping and overall cardiovascular health.
