Captain Thomas Stukeley
Captain Thomas Stukeley was an English adventurer and soldier born around 1525. He is best known for his involvement in various military campaigns across Europe, including service in the Spanish and Portuguese armies. Stukeley gained a reputation for his daring exploits and was often seen as a mercenary leader.
In 1578, Stukeley joined the Portuguese forces in their conflict against Morocco. He played a significant role in the ill-fated Battle of Alcácer Quibir, where he was ultimately killed. His life reflects the turbulent nature of 16th-century European politics and the era's mercenary culture.
