Cape Florida Lighthouse
The Cape Florida Lighthouse is located in Bill Baggs Cape Florida State Park on Key Biscayne, Florida. Built in 1825, it is the oldest standing structure in Miami-Dade County. The lighthouse stands 95 feet tall and was originally constructed to guide ships safely through the waters of the Florida Straits.
The lighthouse has undergone several restorations over the years, especially after damage from hurricanes. Visitors can climb the 109 steps to the top for stunning views of the surrounding area, including the Atlantic Ocean and the nearby Biscayne Bay. The site is also rich in history, having served various roles throughout its existence.
