Cape Agulhas Lighthouse
The Cape Agulhas Lighthouse is located at the southernmost tip of Africa, near the town of Agulhas. Built in 1849, it stands 27 meters tall and is one of the oldest lighthouses in South Africa. The lighthouse was constructed to guide ships safely around the treacherous waters where the Atlantic and Indian Oceans meet.
The lighthouse features a distinctive red and white striped design, making it a recognizable landmark. It is still operational today, providing vital navigation assistance to vessels in the area. Visitors can explore the surrounding nature reserve and enjoy stunning views of the coastline.
