Canwest Global Communications
Canwest Global Communications was a Canadian media company known for its television and publishing operations. Founded in 1974 by Israel Asper, it grew to become one of the largest media companies in Canada, owning several television stations and a variety of print publications.
In 2010, Canwest faced financial difficulties and filed for bankruptcy protection. The company's assets were eventually sold to Shaw Communications, which restructured the business and integrated it into its own media operations, marking the end of Canwest as an independent entity.
