Canto Uno
"Canto Uno" is the first section of Dante Alighieri's epic poem, The Divine Comedy. In this canto, Dante finds himself lost in a dark forest, symbolizing confusion and sin. He encounters three beasts that block his path, representing different vices that hinder his journey toward redemption.
As Dante struggles to escape the forest, he meets the spirit of Virgil, a Roman poet. Virgil offers to guide Dante through the realms of the afterlife, including Hell and Purgatory, ultimately leading him to Paradise. This sets the stage for Dante's transformative journey toward spiritual enlightenment.
