Canine Development
Canine development refers to the growth and maturation process of dogs from birth to adulthood. This process is typically divided into several stages: neonatal, transitional, socialization, juvenile, and adult. Each stage has specific physical and behavioral milestones, such as opening eyes, learning to walk, and developing social skills with other dogs and humans.
During the socialization stage, which occurs between 3 to 14 weeks, puppies learn important life skills. They become familiar with different environments, sounds, and experiences, which helps shape their temperament and behavior as adults. Proper socialization is crucial for preventing behavioral issues later in life and ensuring a well-adjusted dog.
