The Canadian Special Operations Command (CANSOFCOM) is a component of the Canadian Armed Forces responsible for special operations. It was established in 2006 to enhance Canada's ability to conduct specialized missions, including counter-terrorism, hostage rescue, and reconnaissance. CANSOFCOM oversees various units, such as the Joint Task Force 2 and the Canadian Special Operations Regiment.
CANSOFCOM operates under the authority of the Chief of Defence Staff and collaborates with domestic and international partners. Its personnel undergo rigorous training to prepare for complex and high-risk operations, ensuring they can respond effectively to threats and support national security objectives.
