Canadian International Development Agency
The Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA) was a government agency responsible for administering Canada's foreign aid programs. Established in 1968, its primary goal was to reduce poverty and promote sustainable development in developing countries. CIDA worked with various partners, including non-governmental organizations and international agencies, to implement projects that addressed issues like health, education, and economic growth.
In 2013, CIDA was integrated into the Department of Foreign Affairs, Trade and Development (DFATD), which now oversees Canada's international development efforts. This change aimed to streamline operations and enhance the effectiveness of Canada's contributions to global development challenges.
