Canadian Auto Workers
The Canadian Auto Workers (CAW) was a labor union representing workers in the automotive industry in Canada. Founded in 1984, it aimed to improve working conditions, wages, and job security for its members. The union played a significant role in negotiating collective agreements with major automotive companies, ensuring fair treatment for workers.
In 2013, the CAW merged with the Communications, Energy and Paperworkers Union of Canada to form the Unifor union. This new organization continues to advocate for workers' rights across various sectors, including the automotive industry, while maintaining a focus on social justice and economic equality for all its members.
