Canada Arm
The Canada Arm, also known as the Canadarm, is a robotic arm used in space missions, particularly on the Space Shuttle. It was designed to assist astronauts in handling payloads, performing repairs, and conducting experiments in orbit. The arm is about 15 meters long and can move with precision, making it an essential tool for various tasks in space.
Developed by MDA (MacDonald, Dettwiler and Associates), the Canadarm was first launched in 1981. It has played a crucial role in assembling the International Space Station (ISS) and deploying satellites. The success of the Canadarm has led to the development of advanced robotic systems for future space exploration.
