CanWest Global Communications Corp.
CanWest Global Communications Corp. was a Canadian media company founded in 1974. It became one of the largest media organizations in Canada, operating television stations, radio stations, and publishing businesses. The company was known for its ownership of the Global Television Network, which provided a wide range of programming to viewers across the country.
In 2010, CanWest filed for bankruptcy protection due to financial difficulties. The company's assets were subsequently sold, and its broadcasting operations were acquired by Shaw Communications. This marked the end of CanWest as a standalone entity, but its legacy continues through the media properties that were once part of its portfolio.
