Campbell Island teal
The Campbell Island teal is a small, flightless duck native to Campbell Island, located south of New Zealand. This species is known for its distinctive greenish-brown plumage and a relatively small size, making it well-adapted to its island habitat. The teal primarily feeds on aquatic plants, insects, and small invertebrates found in the island's wetlands.
Once nearly extinct due to introduced predators, conservation efforts have helped stabilize the Campbell Island teal population. Today, it is classified as a vulnerable species, and ongoing protection measures are in place to ensure its survival in the wild.
