Cameron Highlanders
The Cameron Highlanders is a historic infantry regiment of the British Army, originally formed in 1793. It is known for its distinctive tartan uniforms and has a rich heritage, serving in various conflicts around the world, including both World Wars. The regiment is named after the Cameron clan, which is one of the prominent Scottish clans.
In 2006, the Cameron Highlanders merged with the Seaforth Highlanders and the Gordon Highlanders to form the Royal Regiment of Scotland. This merger aimed to preserve the traditions and history of these storied regiments while modernizing the structure of the army. The regiment continues to honor its legacy through ceremonial duties and active service.
