Camargue horses
The Camargue horse is a breed native to the Camargue region in southern France. These horses are known for their distinctive gray coat, which often lightens as they age. They are small to medium-sized, typically standing between 13.2 and 15.2 hands high. Camargue horses are well-adapted to their environment, featuring strong legs and a sturdy build that allows them to navigate marshy terrain.
Originally used by the local herdsmen for cattle herding, Camargue horses are known for their intelligence and agility. They have a calm temperament, making them suitable for various equestrian activities. Today, they are also popular in tourism and recreational riding.
