Calixa Lavallée was a Canadian composer and musician, best known for composing the music for the national anthem of Canada, “O Canada.” Born on December 28, 1842, in Verchères, Quebec, he was a prominent figure in the music scene during the late 19th century. Lavallée's work contributed significantly to the cultural landscape of Canada.
