California Channel Islands
The California Channel Islands are a group of eight islands located off the southern coast of California. They are part of the Channel Islands National Park, which was established to protect their unique ecosystems and wildlife. The islands include Santa Cruz, Santa Rosa, Anacapa, San Miguel, San Nicolas, Santa Barbara, Catalina, and San Clemente. Each island has distinct landscapes, ranging from rugged cliffs to sandy beaches.
These islands are home to many endemic species, meaning they are found nowhere else in the world. The park offers various recreational activities, such as hiking, kayaking, and wildlife watching, making it a popular destination for nature enthusiasts. The islands also have rich cultural history, with evidence of Chumash and Tongva Native American habitation.
