Caiman Behavior
Caimans are semi-aquatic reptiles that exhibit a range of behaviors suited to their environment. They are primarily solitary animals, often found basking in the sun on riverbanks or floating in water. Caimans are opportunistic feeders, hunting fish, birds, and small mammals, using stealth and quick movements to catch their prey.
During the breeding season, male caimans become more vocal, using calls to attract females and establish territory. They engage in courtship displays, which may include head-slapping and water splashing. After mating, females build nests to lay eggs, demonstrating maternal care by guarding the nest until the young hatch.
