COVAX Initiative
The COVAX Initiative is a global collaboration aimed at ensuring equitable access to COVID-19 vaccines for all countries, regardless of their income levels. It is co-led by the World Health Organization (WHO), Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance, and the Coalition for Epidemic Preparedness Innovations (CEPI). The initiative seeks to provide vaccines to low- and middle-income countries, helping to protect populations and curb the spread of the virus worldwide.
COVAX works by pooling resources from various countries and organizations to purchase vaccines and distribute them fairly. This approach helps to prevent vaccine nationalism, where wealthier nations might hoard supplies, ensuring that vulnerable populations in all regions receive the protection they need against COVID-19.
