CLP Regulation
The CLP Regulation, or Classification, Labelling and Packaging Regulation, is a European Union regulation that aims to ensure the safe use of chemicals. It requires manufacturers and importers to classify their chemical substances and mixtures based on their hazards, label them accordingly, and provide safety data sheets. This helps protect human health and the environment by ensuring that users are informed about the risks associated with chemical products.
Implemented in 2009, the CLP Regulation aligns with the United Nations' Globally Harmonized System (GHS) for chemical classification. It applies to all chemical substances and mixtures sold in the EU, promoting consistency in hazard communication across member states.
