CAR-T Cell Therapy
CAR-T Cell Therapy is a groundbreaking treatment for certain types of cancer, particularly blood cancers like leukemia and lymphoma. It involves modifying a patient's own T cells, a type of immune cell, to better recognize and attack cancer cells. This is done by adding a special receptor, called a chimeric antigen receptor (CAR), to the T cells, enabling them to identify and destroy cancer cells more effectively.
After the T cells are modified in a laboratory, they are infused back into the patient's body. Once reintroduced, these enhanced cells multiply and target the cancer cells, leading to potential remission. While promising, CAR-T Cell Therapy can also have side effects, and its effectiveness varies among patients.
