Butterfly McQueen
Butterfly McQueen was an American actress born on January 7, 1911, in Tampa, Florida. She is best known for her role as Prissy in the classic film Gone with the Wind (1939). McQueen's performance as the comedic and somewhat naive maid became iconic, and her catchphrase, "I don't know nothin' 'bout birthin' babies," is still remembered today.
In addition to her film career, McQueen was a civil rights activist and worked to promote racial equality. She faced challenges in Hollywood due to her race but continued to advocate for better representation of African Americans in the entertainment industry throughout her life. McQueen passed away on December 22, 1995.
