Burhinus oedicnemus
The Burhinus oedicnemus, commonly known as the Eurasian Stone-curlew, is a large, ground-dwelling bird found across Europe, North Africa, and parts of Asia. It has a distinctive appearance with long legs, large yellow eyes, and a mottled brown plumage that provides excellent camouflage in its natural habitat, which includes open fields and grasslands.
This bird is primarily nocturnal, feeding on insects, small mammals, and other invertebrates during the night. The Eurasian Stone-curlew is known for its unique, haunting call, which can often be heard at dusk and dawn. It typically nests on the ground, laying eggs that blend in with the surrounding environment.
