Bulletin Board Systems
Bulletin Board Systems, or BBS, are online platforms that allow users to post messages, share files, and engage in discussions. They were popular in the 1980s and 1990s before the rise of the internet. Users would connect to a BBS using a modem and a telephone line, accessing various topics and communities.
BBSs typically featured message boards, chat rooms, and file libraries. Users could create accounts, post messages, and reply to others, fostering a sense of community. While many BBSs have declined in usage, some still exist today, preserving a piece of early online culture.
