Bulletin Board System
A Bulletin Board System (BBS) is a computer system that allows users to connect and share information through messages, files, and discussions. Users typically access a BBS via a modem and telephone line, although modern systems may use the internet. BBSs were popular in the 1980s and 1990s, serving as early online communities where people could post messages, share software, and engage in discussions.
BBSs often featured various sections or "boards" dedicated to specific topics, such as gaming, technology, or hobbies. Users could create accounts, post messages, and reply to others, fostering a sense of community. While BBSs have largely been replaced by the internet and social media, some enthusiasts still maintain and use them today.
