The Bufflehead is a small diving duck native to North America. It is easily recognizable by its striking black and white plumage, with males displaying a distinctive iridescent green and purple head. These ducks are typically found in freshwater lakes and ponds during the breeding season and migrate to coastal areas in winter. Buffleheads primarily feed on aquatic invertebrates and small fish, diving underwater to catch their prey. They are known for their agile swimming and quick takeoffs.
