Buddhaghosa
Buddhaghosa was a 5th-century Indian scholar and commentator on Buddhism. He is best known for his work, the Visuddhimagga, which translates to "The Path of Purification." This text serves as a comprehensive guide to Buddhist practice and meditation, synthesizing earlier teachings and providing detailed instructions for achieving enlightenment.
Buddhaghosa's influence extended throughout the Theravada Buddhist tradition, particularly in Sri Lanka and Southeast Asia. His writings helped clarify and preserve the teachings of the Buddha, making them accessible to future generations. Today, he is regarded as one of the most important figures in the history of Buddhist literature.
