Buchanan Dam
Buchanan Dam is a concrete dam located on the Colorado River in Texas. Completed in 1937, it was built to provide flood control, hydroelectric power, and water supply for irrigation and municipal use. The dam creates Lake Buchanan, which is one of the largest lakes in Texas.
The dam stands 90 feet tall and stretches 3,200 feet across. It plays a crucial role in managing water resources in the region, helping to prevent flooding downstream. Additionally, the hydroelectric power generated by the dam contributes to the local energy supply, supporting both residential and commercial needs.
